Popcorn Ball Recipe


  • 6 tbsp. popcorn kernels

  • 1/4 c. peanut oil

  • 1/2 c. sugar

Popcorn Ball Goodness:

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup light corn syrup

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Popcorn Instructions:

  • Heat a large pot over medium-high heat; add the popcorn kernels and peanut oil. When the oil starts to sizzle, sprinkle 1/2 cup of sugar over the kernels. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and shake the pot until the popping slows down, about 8 minutes. Remove from the heat and pour the popcorn onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, separating the kernels with a spatula or spoon. Let the popcorn cool.

  • Generously coat a large bowl with butter and add the popcorn

Popcorn Ball Goodness Instructions:

  • In a heavy saucepan, combine the 1 c. sugar, corn syrup, water and salt. Cook over medium heat until a candy thermometer reads 235° (soft-ball stage). Remove from the heat. Add 3 T. butter, and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted. Immediately pour over popcorn and stir until evenly coated.

  • When mixture is cool enough to handle, quickly shape into 3-in. balls, coating hands with lots of butter to prevent sticking.
